The Future of Event Ticketing: Why NFC Beats QR Codes

For the past decade, the QR code has been the workhorse of event ticketing. It was cheap, universal, and good enough. But "good enough" is exactly the problem: screenshot fraud, slow scan lines, glare-blinded scanners, and dead-zone Wi-Fi have all become accepted costs of running events. A QR scan requires the guest to find the email or app, wake the screen, crank the brightness, and hold the code steady at the right distance while the scanner focuses — under floodlights, in glare, sometimes in rain. Each ticket takes several seconds when it goes well, far longer when it doesn't. Multiply the failures across ten thousand attendees and you get the snaking queues every festival-goer knows.
