- USB, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth — $433.35. The most flexible cased reader: no network cabling, and it doubles as a BLE beacon that can surface a customer's pass on their lock screen as they approach.

- PoE & USB — $443.48. Dual power with failover. For gates and busy tills where a dead reader means a queue.

How to choose in three questions
1. Where does the reader live? On a counter next to a till, USB power is fine — Wi-Fi model. On a wall, gate or turnstile, you want PoE. Inside your own hardware, take a board.
2. What happens if it goes offline? If a failed tap just means a missed stamp, any model works. If it means a locked door or a stalled queue, pay the extra ~$10 for the PoE & USB failover model.
3. Do you need the fleet features at all? Central validation, remote configuration and VTAP Cloud monitoring earn their money from roughly three readers upward, or the moment a reader sits away from a staffed till. Below that, the standard VTAP100 does the same tap for $180 less.
